About Pat

     Born in Truro, Nova Scotia, Pat Stewart continues to live in Nova Scotia where she finds inspiration for most of her paintings.  With camera in hand, she loves the opportunity to explore all of the beautiful areas of our province and discover the splendor of the local natural landscapes and nature’s many gifts.  Painting has given her a new appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.

    After raising three children, she finally indulged a life-long dream and registered for oil painting with Continuing Education at George P. Vanier School under Marion Silvers’ instruction.  Two years later she ventured into watercolour and received instruction from Ann Duggan, of Lower Sackville.  Since then, she has done some work with acrylic and dye on silk but her passion is watercolour. Working with watercolour, she has developed her own easily recognized style that displays the breathtaking scenery of Atlantic Canada and brings out the beauty of surroundings that is often overlooked.

     For the past several years, Pat has entered the Annual Juried Show with the Contemporary Art Society of NS. In 1999 she received Honourable Mention for her watercolour of “Blue Rocks, NS” and in 2007 she won the Louisa Letson Award for “Nuttby House” and Honourable Mention for “Peggy’s Cove”.

     She is an active member of the Contemporary Art Society, Dartmouth Visual Arts and Visual Arts Nova Scotia.

     Pat has exhibited with the Contemporary Art Society of Nova Scotia at their Juried Shows and their shows at City Centre, Halifax Shopping Ctr. and Mic Mac Mall, with the Boardwalk Artists at Alderney Landing, Art Pieces Gallery, in the Truro Hospital, the Seniors’ Gallery at the World Trade Center in Halifax, Shaw’s Country Market in Parrsboro, NS, with Atlantic Seabreeze Artists, Handsmiths Inc. at Historic Properties, and with Sandpiper Gallery in Lawrencetown, NS.  She also exhibits at the Artport Gallery at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
